Fiber adapter, sometimes also called fiber coupler, is a small device designed to terminate or link the fiber optic cables or fiber optic connectors between two fiber optic lines. Spring-loaded shutters prevent potential eye hazards and dirt / debris contamination when not in use.
Fiber Adapters are comprised of a polymer outer body and inner assembly fitted with a precision alignment mechanism. SC Optical Adapters are precision made and manufactured to demanding specifications. The combination of a ceramic/phosphor bronze alignment sleeves and precision molded polymer housing provides consistent long-term mechanical and optical performance.
